Today's surf, all in one glance.
A personal surf report I built because the data is open and the apps that sell it are cluttered. Pick your breaks, see live conditions rated Epic to Flat, and know the best two hours to paddle out.
My role: Owner. I designed and built it, and I keep it running. Stack: React, TanStack Start, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase, Open-Meteo marine API.
Decisions
One number per break
Every card leads with face height in feet, then period and swell direction. Everything else steps back. You can read six breaks in a glance from across the room.
Rate it, don't just report it
Height, period and wind are scored into five words, Epic to Flat, with a colour that stays consistent from the legend to the 3-day bar under each chart.
Tell me when, not just what
Each card calls out the best window, such as "Best 7 to 9 AM, Good", so the forecast answers the only question that matters.
Two densities
Detailed for planning, Compact for checking. Same data, same order, one toggle.
Open data, no lock-in
Wave, weather and tide come from Open-Meteo's free marine API. Any beach, town or break in the world can be added by name.
